CALLING 911 EMERGENCY NUMBER

When calling 911 from a landline telephone for an emergency at your condominium, the 911 operator only sees your physical address (e.g., 2897 Loveland Drive) on their computer screen.  The operator does NOT have your building and unit number in which you reside.  Be sure to notify the 911 operator of your complete address (e.g., 2897 Loveland Drive, Unit 3401, Building 34).  This will shorten the time the fire department, paramedics, ambulance, or police can locate you and help you.

When calling 911 from a cellular or mobile phone for an emergency at your condominium, the 911 operator, using satellite imagery, has the latitude and longitude coordinates of the top of the building from which you are calling and the name of the street on which the building is located.  Be sure to notify the 911 operator of your complete address (e.g., 2897 Loveland Drive, Unit 3401, Building 34).  This will shorten the time the fire department, paramedics, ambulance, or police can locate you and help you.

Background Information

When the Monterey Community was developed in 2005, the post office assigned street addresses to the various buildings.  The street numbering system was done in a random manner.  Normally, odd number street addresses are on one side of the street and even number street addresses are on the other side.  These numbers are in ascending or descending order depending upon which direction you are traveling.  However, the street addresses in the Monterey Community do not conform to this system and are in random numerical order.
